“Will Amazon and Video Games Transform Games Workshop into the Next Marvel Phenomenon?”

Cavill played a significant role in the agreement with Amazon and is set to executive produce and appear in its adaptations of Games Workshop.

Transforming the Warhammer universe and its extensive lore – the background details about the various races and characters within it – can pose a challenge.

This is something Clive Standen, who portrays the main character of Lieutenant Demetrian Titus in Space Marine II, is well aware of.

Standen informs BBC Newsbeat that his initial recording sessions included discussions with Games Workshop representatives to infuse depth and emotion into his typically stoic ultramarine character.

“We must discover subtle nuances to engage the audience with him,” Standen remarks.

“Otherwise, it’s going to feel very detached.”

Ultimately, Standen states, they reached a “middle ground”, and his portrayal in the game has placed him in contention for a Bafta Games Award.

He also voiced Titus in a Space Marine II-themed episode of Secret Level (the Prime Video anthology inspired by popular video games).

According to Amazon, it was the largest launch for an animated series on its streaming platform.

Standen is convinced that the streamer’s substantial finances mean it is the ideal venue to properly represent more Warhammer productions.

However, he cautions that it will require considerable effort.

“You need to strike a delicate balance between satisfying the fans and providing them with something they have a personal investment in, while also catering to the mainstream audience,” he explains.

“Because if you don’t attract enough viewers, it won’t get picked up for a second season.”
