“Mindful” by Rainbow-Wolf Sabin

At times, we find ourselves confined to perceiving our environment from the same viewpoint repetitively. We become ensnared in our routines and rush through our days without pausing to meaningfully observe our surroundings.

With the aid of a camera lens (any camera lens will work—including your smartphone!), we will discover how to notice and regard our environment from fresh viewpoints. Mindfulness has been empirically validated to foster an overall sense of wellness among its practitioners. However, traditional methods may not resonate with everyone, and that’s completely acceptable. In this workshop, you can delve into and grasp the basic principles of mindfulness through a vibrant and engaging medium! Participants of all skill levels in photography and mindfulness are welcome—including beginners! This workshop does not concentrate on technical photography expertise but, instead, on the experience of viewing ourselves, our immediate environment, and our connections to the broader world through a novel and distinct lens.

This program is centered on conveying the principles of mindfulness through enjoyable and imaginative means. It employs photography as a means to explore awareness of the present moment, curiosity, non-judgment, and gratitude while perceiving the world from an alternative perspective. Technical photography skills are not the focus of this program, so participants are encouraged to use a smartphone; however, all photography gear is welcome. Should the weather permit, part of the workshop will take place outdoors, otherwise, it will be adjusted to be conducted indoors.

Participants will require access to some form of a camera—a smartphone will work exceptionally and is highly recommended, nonetheless, participants may bring any camera they wish to use, or multiple camera options. This workshop will primarily be indoors, but may venture outside for part of the duration if weather conditions allow.
