CHICAGO, IL & GRAND RAPIDS, MI-UChicago Swim & Dive dispatched split squads to engage Division 1 local rival UIC and #15 (W)/#9 (M) Calvin in Grand Rapids, MI. With numerous athletes out due to ailments and injuries, the Maroons faced challenges at both competitions, yet managed to defeat Calvin, one of the leading D3 men’s squads, while maintaining competitiveness with their women’s team as well as against D1 opponent UIC on the women’s side.
On the diving boards, Sumi Allen, Dani Killeen, Lilia Atanda & Veronica Fong all recorded NCAA Provisional Scores on 1M Diving, with Fong also achieving the score on 3M.
In the swimming pool, Cooper Costello maintained his remarkable in-season performance, exceeding the NCAA B Cut standards in both the 100 and 200 fly to secure dominant victories in both events. Christopher Xia’s triumph in the 100 breast also qualified for a NCAA B-Cut. Sebi Vernhes claimed B Cuts with victories in the 100 free and collaborated with Jonathan Tang, John Butler, Ben Catton for a commanding win in the 200 Free Relay.
