SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Sewanee Swim and Dive squad commenced the new year by organizing a conference matchup with Rhodes. Although there were numerous noteworthy performances, the Tigers were unable to secure victory in the overall team points.

On the women’s front, Mary-Louise Lemieux showcased an exceptional performance, achieving first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.45. She also played a vital role in two relay events that finished in second place: the 200-yard medley relay with Natalia Evans, Eleanor Bishop, and Ada Digby, and the 200-yard freestyle relay alongside McKenna Reed, Digby, and Evans.

Ava Mack secured a commendable second place in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:37.79), while Audrey Francell triumphed in the 100-yard butterfly. Diver Katie Walker performed admirably, finishing second in the 1-meter event and first in the 3-meter competition. Lily Stooksbury and Zoe Napier contributed points in the 3-meter event, finishing third and fourth, respectively.

In the women’s 50-yard freestyle, the Tigers exhibited three strong performances: Digby achieved second (25.52), Francell secured third (26.06), and Evans came in fourth (26.29).

Ella Deitch had a competitive meet as well, obtaining second-place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke, 200-yard individual medley, and 200-yard butterfly.

The women’s relay teams demonstrated strong performances. The 200-yard medley relay featuring Evans, Bishop, Lemieux, and Digby completed the race in 1:54.55, finishing just slightly over a second behind the Rhodes squad. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Digby, Evans, Reed, and Lemieux also earned second place with a time of 1:43.28.

For the men’s team, Andrew Olsen led with two individual victories, placing first in both the 100-yard backstroke (53.85) and the 100-yard freestyle (48.25). He additionally contributed to a second-place result in the 200-yard medley relay, teaming up with Naeem Mangum, Josh Kim, and Carter Nabors.

Mangum and Kim also clinched individual podium finishes. Mangum took third in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Kim achieved third in the 50-yard freestyle.

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, January 25, at 1 p.m. CT, when they will host the University of Montevallo.
