Vikings Stumble Against Minnesota State in a Dramatic Saturday Showdown

MANKATO, Minn. – The Augustana women’s swimming and diving squad lost during a Saturday afternoon competition at Minnesota State.

Minnesota State 176.5, Augustana 123.5

In the Fast Lane 

–Bryn Greenwaldt, Nesrine Jelliti, Angela Chan, and Sofia Hein achieved first place in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:46.45.

-In the 100 breaststroke, Jelliti recorded an NCAA qualifying time as she touched the wall at 1:03.84. 

-Greenwaldt and Makoa Montgomery both excelled in the 50 freestyle, with Greenwaldt claiming first with an NCAA qualifying time of 22.59 and Montgomery finishing second at 23.93. 

-Greenwaldt then followed up with a qualifying time in the 100 freestyle, finishing first with a time of 51.05. 

-Jelliti secured her second individual victory of the evening in the 200 breaststroke, clocking in at 2:22.98 while Ava Brogren came in second at 2:24.26.

-The concluding event of the evening was the 200 free relay where Greenwaldt, Chan, Makoa, and Meesha Montgomery clinched first with a time of 1:34.25

Off the Boards

-In the 1m dive, Kate Robbins placed third with 245.65 points. 

–Avery Lommel secured second in the 3m dive, attaining a score of 245.20 points.

Augustana’s women’s team will head to Marshall, Minnesota, to face off against Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, Jan. 17, at 5 p.m.
