Yale Outswims Women’s Swim and Dive Team in Thrilling Showdown

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell women’s swimming and diving squad suffered a 210-90 defeat against the Yale Bulldogs this past weekend during a two-day competition at Teagle Pool. The Big Red secured victories in two events against the Bulldogs.

Minga Xu (56.34 seconds) and Katherine Ferreira (57.29 seconds) achieved the top two placements respectively in the 100-yard backstroke. Tori Zhang recorded a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.54 seconds.

Kate Li narrowly missed the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle (51.02 seconds). Chloe Addiego claimed second in the 100-yard butterfly (55.37 seconds) by less than two-tenths of a second. Audrey Holden also came close in the 200-yard breaststroke with her second-place time of 2:19.33.

Erin Dehollander concluded the 500-yard freestyle in second place (2:59.80). Li finished as the runner-up in the 200-yard IM (2:02.71). Rosalee Springer, Jungmin Yoon, Addiego, and Zhang wrapped up Cornell’s day with a second-place relay time (3:26.36) in the 400-yard freestyle.

Next Up

The Cornell men’s swimming and diving team will be back in action on Saturday, January 25 against their Ivy League rival Brown. The event is scheduled to commence at 12:00 noon at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
