The prestigious international Felix Schoeller Photo Award is set to occur for the seventh time in 2025

Professional photographers are encouraged to submit their works in the two categories “Sustainability” and “Emerging Talent” by April 5, 2025. Participation in the award for the best emerging talent work is restricted to those currently undergoing training as photographers. Concurrently, the call for submissions for the “German Peace Prize for Photography” is ongoing, which is exclusively open to professional photographers as well. The deadline for submissions is also April 5, 2025. Established in 2019 as a collaborative project by the city of Osnabrück and paper manufacturer Felix Schoeller, the Peace Prize has gained recognition. The company has been a pioneer in producing specialty papers for photography since 1895.

Excellence in photography remains the central focus of the international Felix Schoeller Photo Award.

Inaugurated in 2013, the international Felix Schoeller Photo Award has built an exceptional reputation within the global professional photo community over its seven editions. Professional and emerging talent submissions from over 100 nations illustrate the significant interest the award draws among professional photographers. The remarkable caliber of the entries reflects a shared global goal in photography. Participants can submit their works for the Felix Schoeller Photo Award in the two categories “Sustainability” and “Emerging Talent.” Each category awards a prize of 5,000 euros. The emerging talent award is intended for photographers undergoing studies, vocational training, or working as photo assistants. Young creatives can express themselves without thematic limitations here, with submissions accepted until April 5, 2025.

Photography fosters dialogue on the theme of peace.

The German Peace Prize for Photography grants recognition to entries that explore the notion of “peace” both photographically and conceptually. The interpretation of “peace” is meant to be comprehensive: ranging from peace among nations and between countries to harmonious coexistence in urban and rural settings, within families or groups, to visually representing the inner peace of individuals. The recipient of the German Peace Prize for Photography will be awarded a sum of 10,000 euros.

Michael Dannenmann passes on the jury chair to Simone Klein.

Michael Dannenmann, a founding member of the Felix Schoeller Photo Awards and initial jury chair, is dedicating more time to his personal photographic ventures but will remain involved in an advisory role for the award. The new jury chair is Simone Klein, who has served on the jury three times. Currently, Klein works as an Art Advisor and is a publicly appointed and sworn expert in photography based in Cologne. She pursued studies in art history, Romance studies, and German studies in Bonn and at the Sorbonne, Paris. Following her role as the photography department director at Sotheby’s Europe, with auctions in Paris, London, and New York, she most recently became the international director of the Print Sales department at Magnum Photos in Paris. Furthermore, the jury includes art historian and curator Cathérine Hug from Kunsthaus Zürich, Nils-Arne Kässens, director of the Museumsquartier Osnabrück, and Hannah Schuh, Visual Director of the art magazine ART.

For the German Peace Prize for Photography, the jury is expanded with the addition of Ulrich Schneckener, Professor of International Relations & Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Osnabrück. The laureates will be announced and celebrated at the festive award ceremony on September 25, 2025. The award-winning photographs, along with the works of the nominees, will subsequently be showcased in a comprehensive exhibition at the Museumsquartier Osnabrück.
