OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KSWO) – The Oklahoma City Zoo has declared that they will be introducing a visual art exhibit centered around wildlife photographs captured within the Zoo.
Amidst the diverse flora and the thrilling encounters with wildlife, the Zoo serves as an excellent venue for photographers seeking inspiration. This has led to a multitude of striking images that encapsulate the charm and fascinating subjects found within the Zoo.
Notably, the exhibit will showcase 37 original wildlife images captured in 2024 by 11 members of the Zoo’s Photo Crew.
The exhibit will also include OKC Zoo Bricktopia, an artistic interpretation of the Zoo utilizing a distinctive medium – miniature bricks.
“We were astonished by Daniel’s capability to conceive and create such a distinctive art piece that connects people to the Zoo, and realized it had to be a centerpiece of this exhibit,” said Rennels regarding Bricktopia.
This exhibit is part of the Patricia & Byron J. Gambulos ZooZeum, the historical museum of the Zoo.
The photo exhibit will encompass four categories:
1) Zoo Animal Family – emphasizes more than one member of a specific species.
2) Wild for Wildlife – Spotlights any and all creatures that are featured in the Zoo.
3) Enrichment – Centers on instances where animals partake in enrichment projects.
4) Seasonal – Investigates the seasonal changes as experienced by the animals within the Zoo.
“The Photo Crew is an exceptionally skilled team of photographers,” stated Candice Rennels, Director of Public Relations. “These artists have managed to capture our wildlife in bold new manners that are original, inspiring, and fit for a museum. We are thrilled to celebrate their work and showcase a fresh perspective of the Zoo we all cherish.”
Bedford Camera & Video sponsors the exhibit, which launches Saturday, January 25, and is free with park entry.
The daytime operational hours of the Oklahoma City Zoo are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with the final entry at 4 p.m. The Zoo will be closed to the public every Tuesday and Wednesday until February 5, 2025.

The Zoo is situated at the intersection of I-44 and I-35 in Oklahoma City’s Adventure District.
