The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) announced that the total gaming revenue reached an unprecedented level in 2024, surpassing the $6 billion threshold for the very first time in a calendar year.

As per a statement, this rise was driven by an over 25% increase in iGaming revenue compared to the prior year.

The total revenue figure cited by the PGCB for 2024 is $6,137,414,455, marking a 7.73% increase from the 2023 total revenue amount of $5,697,218,115. This figure includes the combined revenue from slot machines, table games, sports betting, iGaming, video gaming terminals (VGTs), and fantasy competitions.

The tax revenue for 2024, along with the annual slot machine license operating fee, totaled $2,663,575,443, representing the highest revenue returned to the state within a calendar year. The previous record of $2,454,273,306 was established the year before.

The gross revenue from slot machines across casinos was $2,447,354,419, experiencing a 0.66% decline compared to the $2,463,698,452 generated in 2023. Revenue from table games at casinos was $937,479,260, reflecting a 3.53% reduction from the $971,742,564 earned a year prior. The revenue for iGaming was $2,181,669,449, showing a 25.25% boost compared to the $1,741,832,079 accumulated in 2023.

Total revenue for VGTs at service stations reached $41,525,888, reflecting a 0.70% growth in revenue compared to the $41,237,349 generated a year ago. By the year’s end, there were 74 VGT establishments in Pennsylvania. Revenue from fantasy competitions was $18,668,580, indicating a 7.08% decline compared to the $20,091,332 earned in 2023.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is responsible for overseeing all forms of gambling involving 17 land-based casinos, online casino offerings, as well as retail and online sports betting, and VGTs at eligible truck stops, in addition to regulating online fantasy sports competitions.

The land-based gaming industry in Pennsylvania is composed of six racetrack (Category 1) casinos, five standalone (Category 2) casinos, two resort (Category 3) casinos, and four mini-casinos (Category 4). The total income generated from casinos and other PGCB-regulated gaming activities reached $2.66 billion in tax revenue and fees in 2024.
