FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation FUJIY is poised to debut the instax WIDE Evo (WIDE Evo), a premier high-tech hybrid instant camera, in Japan on Feb. 6, 2025.  Building upon the triumph of the instax mini Evo, this latest entry to its lineup is designed to utilize double-card-sized WIDE format film. The WIDE Evo aspires to enhance immediate photography with state-of-the-art features, personalized options, and an elegant design.

This camera reveals a hybrid framework that lets users preview their images on an LCD display prior to printing. Notably, it boasts the capability of generating “100 Shooting Effects.” This is accomplished through the blending of 10 lens effects, including “Magenta” and “Monochrome,” combined with 10 film effects, such as “Light Leak” and “Color Gradient.” For the first time in the instax collection, users are able to modulate the effects’ saturation and color gradation using Degree Control, presenting 100 levels of fine-tuning.

The WIDE Evo’s structure merges contemporary luxury with analog inspiration. The camera’s body showcases a sophisticated design, featuring a sleek black base and metallic elements that exude opulence. It is engineered for operation reminiscent of analog devices, incorporating features like a film dial, lens dial, degree control dial, and print crank. Users can relish in creating WIDE format instax prints by selecting effects with dials and manually rotating the “Print crank” to produce images.

To further enhance the enjoyment of capturing with WIDE format film, Fujifilm has introduced two groundbreaking features—Film Style and Wide Angle Mode. With Film Style, users can frame their images using one of six distinctive Film Styles available, boosting the image quality. The Wide Angle Mode enables the capturing of wider scenes and dynamic compositions, fully utilizing the WIDE format’s more substantial frame size.

Moreover, the app presents a Discover Feed where users around the world can display their instax prints and the effect combinations employed in their creation. It also includes a Bluetooth connectivity option, allowing users to favorite effects presented on the Discover Feed and seamlessly replicate those effects onto their WIDE Evo, facilitating creative experimentation. With WIDE Evo, images can be stored on a smartphone with the instax border, edited, and shared on social media platforms. Robust performance in the Imaging division is propelling FUJIY’s revenue possibilities. In the most recently reported quarter, earnings from this sector increased by 11% year over year to ¥126.5 billion. Consumer Imaging revenue rose by 7.6%, while Professional Imaging revenue skyrocketed by 17% year over year. This growth was driven by strong demand for instax instant photo systems and the successful rollout of the introductory instax mini 12 in March 2024. Additionally, increased sales of digital cameras bolstered the Professional Imaging sector.
