“Rumors Ignite: Could Resident Evil 6 Make a Comeback on Xbox Series S|X?”

An updated ESRB rating indicates that Resident Evil 6 might soon be available on current-generation consoles.

Noticed by X (previously Twitter) user Andrew Marmo, the ESRB rating evaluates Resident Evil 6 for the Xbox Series S|X, leading enthusiasts to speculate that the game could also be arriving on the PlayStation 5.

The rating states, “This is a survival-horror game in which players take on the roles of several characters trying to halt a viral outbreak. Viewed from a third-person perspective, participants explore various settings, solve puzzles, and confront zombies and mutated beings. Players employ pistols, machine guns, knives, and explosives to eliminate foes. Combat is marked by screams of agony, authentic gunfire, and extensive blood-splatter visuals. Certain assaults may cause dismemberment and/or decapitation.”

It adds, “Cutscenes showcase additional moments of violence and/or blood and gore: a zombie shot in the head, revealing fragments of brain; a zombie stabbed in the head, in close proximity; characters perishing due to rotating fan blades and chainsaw-like implements. One mutated female antagonist is presented nude, yet without any defining details (i.e., no nipples or genitalia). During the confrontation with this boss, this character can be observed fondling her breasts, swaying and straddling another character. The term “f**k” appears within the game.”

Notwithstanding a tumultuous launch in 2012 marred by mixed reviews, Resident Evil 6 has achieved sales of 13.8 million copies as of September 2024.

As for the release date of the next main installment in the Resident Evil series, it is still uncertain; however, the previous main title was Resident Evil Village in 2021.
