Shining Star of the Week: CCIW Men’s Swimming Athlete (Jan. 21)

NAPERVILLE – Tyler Leslie from Augustana has been honored again as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week in men’s swimming this Tuesday afternoon.
 
This announcement signifies the second occasion in Leslie’s journey that he has achieved the Student-Athlete of the Week recognition from the CCIW in back-to-back weeks. 
 
Leslie showcased a remarkable performance for the Vikings during the Grinnell Invitational over the weekend.  He commenced on Friday with a time of 4:42.59 in the 500 freestyle, then followed this with a preliminary swim clocked at 45.99 seconds in the 100 freestyle, establishing a meet record.  
 
During the final of the 100 freestyle, he secured victory in the event and further lowered his meet record to 45.71 seconds.  Leslie initiated Augie’s 200 freestyle relay with a split time of 21.14 seconds.  
 
On Saturday, the junior forward shattered his meet record in the preliminaries for the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:40.72.  In the finals, he set a new Augustana record with a time of 1:40.40. His unshaved times in the 100 and 200 were both personal bests.
