In the 3v3 strategic shooter Spectre Divide, gamers utilize a mechanism that allows them to switch control between two characters during matches. Scheduled for release on consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S) next month (February 2025), the game is developed by Mountaintop Studios in partnership with Michael “shroud” Grzesiek, a highly successful streamer and gaming content producer.

The first substantial seasonal content update – named Flashpoint – brings several major enhancements, including a sprint feature, a new map, and a new sponsor (loadout).

Spectre Divide was released on PC in September 2024, receiving a mix of reviews on Steam. The forthcoming seasonal update aims to improve the Duality system, the game’s trademark body-switching feature, to offer a more dynamic gaming experience. This system already enables players to defend multiple locations, aid teammates, and change positions for tactical benefits. The fundamental gameplay revolves around teams striving to control and protect vital map areas, requiring meticulous coordination to outwit opponents.

Enhancements to game health and overall experience include:

  • New sprint movement system.
  • Updated sandbox balancing.
  • Reduced costs for cosmetics.
  • New economic adjustments.
  • Existing maps revised to eliminate various 50-50s and hidden spots.
  • Refined and enhanced basic facial models.
  • Introduction of the careers tab.
  • Infrastructure improvements:
    • Upgrades to client and server performance.
    • Enhanced networking and new server regions globally.
    • Thousands of corrections implemented since launch based on player input.
  • Quality of life advancements:
    • More responsive and faster combat and movement.
    • Visual revamps for a more vibrant experience.
    • Anti-cheat measures have undergone months of refinement and progress, achieving significant advancements in detection and banning.
    • Observer Mode has been introduced.

New Flashpoint Season 1 features include:

  • New sponsor: Monark Tactical.
  • New map: Canal.
  • New characters, weapon skins, and cosmetics.
  • The Season 1 Battle Pass, offering over 70 rewards, with more than 15 complimentary items including 4-character outfits, 6 accessories, and 2 weapon skins.
