Spotlight on Excellence: NAIA Women’s Basketball Players of the Week for January 21, 2024-25 – Edition 6

Kansas City, Mo. – Ashlyn Diemert of Valley City State (N.D.) has been honored as the NAIA Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week, while Makaila Brown from Tougaloo (Miss.) is awarded as the NAIA Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week. The pair was recognized for their performances from January 13-19, chosen from a selection of conference/Continental Athletic Conference (Independents)/unaffiliated group nominees.

Players of the Week are revealed on Tuesdays through naia.org, Instagram, and X during the regular season.

NAIA Women’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week

Ashlyn Diemert, Valley City State (N.D.) – SR – Guard

• Averaged 31.5 points across two victories
• Set a school record with 39 points while going 11-of-11 from three-point range in a win against No. 24 Jamestown (N.D.)
• Now holds the distinction of being the only player in school history to achieve perfection in three-point shooting

NAIA Women’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week

Makaila Brown, Tougaloo (Miss.) – JR – Forward

• Concluded the week with 28 defensive rebounds, averaging 14 per game
• Recorded 17 defensive rebounds in a win over Dillard (La.)
• Added eight steals and four blocks during the two victories
• Guided Tougaloo to wins over Dillard (La.) and Southern University of New Orleans (La.)
