We’re excited to announce that Alto Head Coach Joey Sementelli has been chosen to mentor at the USA Swimming National Boys Select Camp! Taking place from January 9-12 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, this amazing gathering united numerous top swimmers aged 15-17 across the nation for a life-changing experience.

The National Select Camp aims to motivate and educate the finest young athletes in the country, providing them with an insight into living and training as a National Team athlete. Swimmers were chosen based on exceptional performances recorded in the USA Swimming SWIMS database, with the quickest times in Olympic events securing a place. A total of 52 competitors took part in this immersive three-day camp.

The curriculum of the camp featured:

  • In-water training sessions: Five sessions aimed at honing skills and tactics.

  • Classroom discussions: Subjects included post-race recovery, psychological training techniques, competition strategy, nutrition, and the latest information on drug and supplement policies.

The emphasis of the camp was not on intensive training, but rather on motivation, skill enhancement, and education to support these athletes in reaching their utmost potential. Participants lived and trained on-site at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center, fully engaging in the daily life of elite swimmers.

Joey’s appointment as a coach for this esteemed event underscores his knowledge and leadership within the swimming community. Congratulations to Coach Joey, along with all the athletes and coaches involved in this extraordinary opportunity!
