Wealthy provocateur and occasional gamer Elon Musk attracted significant attention earlier this month when he broadcasted a gameplay session featuring a high-level Path of Exile 2 character. However, to the amusement of viewers, he appeared to lack comprehension of fundamental game principles. Unfortunately, Musk’s dedicated character, Percy_Verence, would soon perish at level 97.
So is he engaging in account boosting, or what? And isn’t this all somewhat peculiar? Musk is the richest individual globally, engaged in numerous significant real-world projects and controversies, yet he seems quite concerned about whether others perceive him as a genuine hardcore gamer. His concern escalated to a significant disagreement with Asmongold about who is the superior gamer. Asmongold, with all due respect, is an individual who cannot maintain cleanliness in his own kitchen.
Well, the enigma has now been unraveled. A recent video by Nikowrex reveals direct messages exchanged between the two, with Musk’s consent, where the beloved brain chip proponent confesses to utilizing account boosting services (thank you, Windows Central). This revelation came after the online community noted that his PoE2 account was actively grinding while Musk was present at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Nikowrex inquires if Musk has had someone else play their accounts or purchased equipment and resources in PoE2 and Diablo 4, to which Musk replies with a “100” emoji. “I’m also participating in multiple streams with Rob and Ace,” Musk states, “But whenever I share a gameplay video or stream, that’s 100% me.”
Regarding account boosting, Musk asserts, “It’s impossible to compete with players in Asia without it, as they certainly do!” When asked if he intended to take credit for maintaining a high-level hardcore character in PoE2, Musk conveyed, “No. Never claimed that. The top accounts in Diablo or PoE necessitate multiple individuals playing the account to secure a leveling victory.”
Musk shows no remorse concerning his boosting activities and doesn’t believe he owes anyone an explanation: “What would I be apologizing for?” Yet, he’s undeniably being a bit mischievous: If he genuinely didn’t care about this matter, he would have clarified his stance when streaming with these characters, rather than being compelled to admit it due to his clear lack of game knowledge and online detectives making connections.
Interestingly, Musk failed to mention this when he boasted about his Diablo 4 abilities on Joe Rogan’s show. On that occasion, his pride in being among the top 20 Diablo 4 players globally was quite evident. Was it all a sham, Elon?
Additionally, sharing accounts violates the terms of service for both games. Therefore, as Musk claims he has nothing to apologize for, I’ve reached out to both Blizzard and GGG for their perspective on this situation.
