McMaster University Celebrated as a Premier Employer in the Region

For the 10th consecutive year, McMaster University has received recognition as one of the region’s premier workplaces in the 2025 Hamilton-Niagara’s Top Employers. 

“A primary focus for us is advocating for our people and culture, and being honored as one of Hamilton-Niagara’s Top Employers illustrates our commitment to supporting employees by fostering a safe working environment that is inclusive, psychologically sound, and cultivates a sense of belonging,” states Saher Fazilat, vice-president (Operations and Finance). 

The university takes pride in offering a workplace that acknowledges the varied needs of employees while progressing towards the organization’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives, remarks Franca Berti-Bogojevic, director of strategic partnerships and initiatives in Human Resources. 

“One illustration of this is our dedication to workplace flexibility, which supports our community’s service provision on campus while aiding employees in achieving work-life balance,” Berti-Bogojevic states. 

There are numerous opportunities for employees to engage on campus and forge significant connections, such as employee volunteer groups, the Black, Indigenous and Racialized Employee Resource Group (BIRS ERG), project teams, and committees, she notes. 

“Additionally, we have recently implemented inclusive hiring practices for newcomers and pathways from student roles to staff positions,” Berti-Bogojevic mentions. 

One of the factors contributing to McMaster’s status as a top employer is the extensive benefits and coverage offered to staff, including tuition support, adaptable work arrangements, and leadership development programs.
