FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Jan. 22, 2025) – This week, the Northern Arizona swimming squad will head to St. George, Utah, for a rematch against Utah Tech, scheduled from Jan. 24 to Jan. 25.

The last encounter between the two squads took place in early December during a dual meet consisting of two parts. The ‘Jacks prevailed on the first day with a tally of 58-47, and they dominated the second day with a score of 143-108.

Cydnie Perkins spearheaded the performance for the Lumberjacks, achieving first place in both the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke, clinching second in the 200-yard individual medley and the 50-yard breaststroke, and leading the NAU A team to triumph in the 400-yard medley relay. Her achievements earned her the title of WAC Swimmer of the Week.

The NAU swimmers last saw action on Jan. 3, where they faced a defeat of 80.5-162.5 against Arizona.

The Trailblazers recently participated in a dual meet on the road. On Jan. 17 at Washington State, sophomore Cera Mallory established a new school record, becoming the inaugural swimmer in Utah Tech program history to finish the 1,650-yard freestyle in under 17 minutes. Overall, UTU lost 39-165 to WSU. The next day, on Jan. 18, the Trailblazers competed against WAC rivals Idaho in Moscow, suffering a 51-186 defeat.

Northern Arizona maintains a 5-0 lead in the all-time series, dating back to 2020.

Events on the opening day will commence at 5 p.m. Mountain Standard Time on Friday, while Saturday’s competitions will begin at 11 a.m. MST.
