Rising Talents Illuminate the Unpublished Photo 2024 Contest

The Unpublished Photo 2024 has announced its laureates, illuminating emerging photographic artistry. These youthful photographers have portrayed profound emotions and significant themes, capturing delicate, heartfelt images that will draw your gaze.

This year’s Unpublished Photo competition, organized by MUSEC in Lugano, presented a compelling collection of artistic viewpoints. With entries from 35 nations, the jury distinguished four projects that particularly excelled:

The top accolade was awarded to Amirhosein Esparham from Iran for Together, Alone, a poignant investigation of solitude through intimate portraits that embody common feelings.

The second position was given to Gabriele D’Agostino from Italy for Cuore Nero-Metrò, an evocative mobile photography collection that unveils emotional narratives and warmth within the uninviting environments of Milan’s metro. If I might add, this is my personal favorite – I found it impossible to look away from these images. The glances and touches captured by Gabriele speak volumes and showcase his artistry exquisitely.

The third award honored Claudy Woods from England for Every Saint Has a Past, an assembly of self-portraits that reinterprets ten saints, exploring femininity, spirituality, and gender relations.

Navonil Dutta from India secured the fourth position for Nature’s Drama, a striking depiction of the predator-prey dynamic that captures the untamed essence of the wilderness (alert: not suitable for the faint-hearted!).

These remarkable pieces are showcased at MUSEC in Lugano until March 10, 2025. This exhibition not only emphasizes the victors but also acts as a venue for collectors and aficionados to engage with the dynamic contemporary photography landscape.

The 2025 competition is currently open

The 2025 iteration of the competition is now accepting submissions. If you were born from 1995 to 2007, you have the opportunity to present your projects, which should comprise ten unified images. The countdown has begun, and you have until March 3, 2025, to participate. There are no imposed thematic limitations, allowing your creativity and perspective to flourish. Winners will be awarded financial prizes, a catalog publication, and a display at MUSEC.
