Support Network for L.A. Photographers Affected by Wildfires

Our associate Andy Romanoff, who resides in Los Angeles, shares this announcement with us.

Los Angeles is currently in chaos, and many photographers living here have been significantly affected as well. Claudia James Bartlett from Photo LA and Aline Smithson from LENSSCRATCH have initiated a fundraiser to assist in their recovery. In a message on GoFundMe, they express:

“Our immediate objective is to gather $300,000 to offer direct assistance to photographers who have lost their residences, studios, and personal belongings that FEMA does not cover, amidst the Eaton, Palisades, Sunset, and other fires in the Los Angeles region.”

“We are seeking support from photographers, art galleries, and collectors worldwide. Our local community is already reeling from the destruction all around them. We hope that readers far from here will also lend a hand.”

Photo LA has been a pillar of support for the photographic community for over thirty years, while LENSSCRATCH has been aiding the community for more than eighteen years. They are dedicated to allocating funds and donations to those most impacted by these fires, focusing on needs.

As a local inhabitant, I can attest to the necessity. We have been accommodating four individuals at our home this past week, one of whom is a woman who has lost everything. Observing them spend their days collecting the basic essentials for survival highlights the immense challenge ahead for those striving to rebuild their professional lives.
