AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Municipal Court is presenting two exciting offsite wedding options for local couples in February and March.

Judges Jon Oldham and Ron Cable will officiate Valentine’s Day ceremonies at the Akron Civic Theatre on Feb. 14, while Cable will preside over Pi Day weddings at the Towpath Tennis Center on March 14.

Due to space limitations, couples may invite a maximum of 10 guests to their wedding.

Valentine’s Day celebrations

Ceremonies will take place on Feb. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Akron Civic Theatre, situated at 182 S. Main St.

Pi Day celebrations

Ceremonies will occur on March 14 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Towpath Tennis Center, found at 2108 Akron Peninsula Road. Pi Day (3.14) is an annual observance of the mathematical constant π (pi). Couples who book a Pi Day ceremony will receive a complimentary pie courtesy of the Gardner Pie Company.

How to arrange

A limited number of slots for ceremonies are available, and appointments are based on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments need to be arranged and paid for prior to the ceremony date. The charge for residents within the court’s jurisdiction is $35 (Akron, Fairlawn, Bath, Richfield, Springfield Township, Lakemore, and the Summit County portion of Mogadore). For non-residents, the fee is $50. The payment for the ceremony must be made in cash.

Before the event, couples are required to secure a marriage license from Summit County Probate Court, located at 172 S. Broadway St.

The court recommends that interested couples contact Akron Municipal Court’s Chief Service Bailiff Patricia Williams at 330-375-2592 to confirm the availability of space before obtaining a marriage license or to ask any questions regarding scheduling.
