Greetings to all,

I wish to commence this blog by recognizing how challenging the past weeks have been for our staff and players in Los Angeles. As I draft this, news articles are being circulated predicting further difficulties ahead with the wildfires due to severe weather conditions.

Our hearts go out to those impacted, and we will persist in collaborating with our colleagues at Sony to assist our team members and their families as they cope with this tragic circumstance.

I am incredibly proud of the numerous Insomniacs who have stepped up to aid others in LA, both within and beyond Insomniac. Assisting those who are less fortunate is an integral part of our mission. Insomniacs embrace this on a daily basis, and it is just one of the many facets of our culture that I admire.

Another vital aspect of our culture I cherish is the Insomniacs’ capacity to unite and effectively tackle what often appears to be insurmountable challenges.

Speaking of resilience, despite a tough 2024, Insomniacs have remained fully committed to developing games for our fans. Thanks to the team’s determination and teamwork, we find ourselves in one of the most robust situations we’ve encountered in years, with every game in progress looking stunning and functioning exceptionally.

Consequently, last week, I felt at ease announcing to the Insomniac team that after being extraordinarily fortunate to enjoy a fulfilling career in gaming, I will be retiring from the industry at the end of March. Today, I’m sharing this news with a wider audience.

I actually made this choice last year. For me, after more than 30 years leading Insomniac, I believed it was simply the right moment to step back and allow others to steer the path for our team.

Over the past year, I have had the privilege of collaborating with the senior leadership team at Insomniac to craft a succession plan that I am confident will ensure continuity, stability, and robust leadership necessary to provide fans with what they love for many decades ahead.

I am also delighted to announce today that Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang will take on the roles of Insomniac Games’ new Co-Studio Heads.

I firmly believe that for our continued success, we require leaders at the top who are deeply familiar with our practices, leaders who have contributed to shaping our culture and processes and have earned the trust of others.

For many years, Chad, Jen, and Ryan have played key roles in shaping Insomniac into what we are today. I have witnessed each of them lead significant initiatives that have positively impacted the lives of Insomniacs. Furthermore, they’ve consistently embodied the collaboration and transparency that is part of our identity. Additionally, their skill sets truly complement one another.

I would never consider entrusting the leadership to a team I didn’t believe would care for Insomniacs and guide us to even more remarkable achievements. Chad, Jen, and Ryan are that trusted team. For those who might not be familiar, I encourage you to take a moment to get to know them here.

In closing, Insomniac has been my life, my second home, for three decades.

I want to express my gratitude to every Insomniac for having a meaningful and enduring influence on my life. Collaborating alongside Insomniacs for so many years has been a gift that I will treasure for all my days.

I also wish to thank our fans who, over the past three decades, have shared their passion, motivation, and support—driving us to push each game further than the last. Everything we do is for you. And I assure you, we won’t be slowing down.

As for myself, I am really looking forward to officially becoming a part of the Insomniac fan community. I am eager to experience our upcoming games purely from a player’s perspective. Plus, I cannot recall the last time I played a game without subconsciously searching for bugs. I’m ready to change that habit!

Lastly, I am confident that under the collective leadership of Chad, Jen, and Ryan, Insomniac will persist in delivering industry-defining games that players have come to expect from us… while positively impacting lives for many decades to come.

Thank you to Insomniacs, to our players, and to video games for 30 incredible years.

– Ted
