The initiative at Seltjarnarness Swimming Pool has been positively embraced, providing complimentary access to the pool for children and adolescents up to the age of 18. The Seltjarnarnes Municipal Council unanimously resolved last year to eliminate the fee for this demographic, with this policy coming into effect at the start of the year.

“This enables the children to swim at their leisure without the concern of needing cash or a card in their possession,” states Haukur Geirmundsson, the director of the swimming facility, in a statement on the municipal site.

Comparable services can be found in other locations as well. For instance, swimming pools in Reykjavík are free for children and youth up to the age of 15, while in Kópavogur, it is costless for individuals up to 18 years of age.

“This modification is expected to motivate the younger population to utilize the swimming pool more frequently. Furthermore, it is entirely plausible to inspire all Seltjarnarnes residents to come and swim. The swimming facility is a health oasis where everyone can discover something that fits their needs. Swimming offers excellent health advantages, functioning as an exercise regimen that engages most of the muscles in the body while simultaneously fortifying ligaments and boosting stamina. The swimming pool also provides free swimming aerobics four times a week, specifically on Mondays and Wednesdays at 18:30-19:00, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:10-7:40,” Geirmundsson is noted as saying.
