Exploring the Heartbeat of Innovation: Northwestern University Unveiled

EVANSTON, Ill. – Sophomore Diego Nosack from Northwestern (Beaverton, Ore./Jesuit High School) has been awarded the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week after his outstanding performance at Wisconsin over the weekend.

Nosack achieved two top finishes in two distinct events: The 200 butterfly (1:43.75) and the 500 freestyle (4:22.62). Both scores are the best this season for Nosack. In the 200 butterfly, Nosack triumphed in a thrilling contest, narrowly defeating his Badger rival by 0.05 seconds.

“Diego exemplifies what this team stands for,” stated the director of swimming and diving Rachel Stratton-Mills. “His races this weekend reflected immense dedication and enthusiasm for his teammates and for what this program aspires to accomplish.”

The men’s swimming squad clinched victory in eight of their events in Madison and achieved a score of 163.5-136.5. The team succeeded in overcoming Wisconsin face-to-face for the first time in over 11 years (November 15, 2013). NU has commenced the season with a record of 6-0 (2-0 in direct meets against Big Ten competitors).

 

The ‘Cats are set to participate in their last event prior to the Big Tens – a triple dual meet with Minnesota and Purdue in Minneapolis – on January 31-February 1. The Big Ten Championships are scheduled for February 19-22 in Columbus, OH.
