On Friday July 18, 2025, at roughly 10:30 a.m., the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) acquired a notification from the Regina Police Service (RPS) concerning an officer-involved capturing that had simply taken place in Regina.
SIRT’s Civilian Executive Director accepted the notification as inside SIRT’s mandate and directed an investigation by SIRT.
On the morning of July 18, plainclothes members of RPS have been engaged in a murder investigation. SIRT’s investigation will look at the conduct of police throughout this incident, together with the circumstances surrounding the male’s loss of life. RPS will keep duty for the investigation that introduced police into contact with the person. As a part of the continuing investigation, SIRT is asking anybody who immediately witnessed or might have video of the incident to contact SIRT at sirt@gov.sk.ca.
