Assertion from Minister Olszewski concerning wildfires in Saskatchewan

July 23, 2025 – Ottawa (Ontario) – Today, the Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience and Minister chargeable for Prairies Economic Development Canada, issued the next assertion:

“The wildfires at the moment burning throughout the province of Saskatchewan proceed to pose a major threat to many communities, a few of which have been ordered to evacuate.

Today, in my capability as Minister of Emergency Management, I permitted a Request for Federal Assistance from the Government of Saskatchewan. We shall be offering Saskatchewan with further firefighters to mitigate the wildfires, and helicopters to move important personnel.

The Government Operations Centre is working with the Canadian Armed Forces, and different federal and provincial companions, to deploy all obligatory sources, and make sure the province of Saskatchewan has the help wanted.

I’m actually grateful to the firefighters, first responders, emergency administration officers, and native volunteers for his or her unwavering dedication in serving to these affected by the wildfires.

I stay in shut contact with my counterpart in Saskatchewan. During these tough occasions, we’re right here and able to help.”
