GCAA tabs 4 males’s golfers as All-American Scholars – Auburn Tigers

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – After another record-smashing run on the course and in the classroom, four Tigers were awarded All-American Scholar status from the Golf Coaches Association of America Tuesday.

Carson Bacha, Ryan Eshleman, Josiah Gilbert and Jackson Koivun were Auburn’s honorees for the 2024-25 season.

The four men set a new program record for the most players recognized in one year. The previous record of three was set by Steven Groover, Jay Moseley and Glenn Northcutt in 2008 and then matched twice: first in 2021 by C.J. Easley, Graysen Huff and Andrew Kozan, followed by Bacha, Evan Vo and Alex Vogelsong in 2023.

To be eligible for an All-American Scholar nomination, an individual must meet the sophomore classification both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA or NJCAA. In addition, the student-athlete must participate in 50 percent of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 (DI), and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.20. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

For the 2024-25 cycle, Bacha led the team with a perfect 4.0 GPA and matched it with a career-best 70.37 stroke average. Gilbert clocked in with a 3.79 GPA and a 70.45 stroke average. Koivun led the Tigers with a 69.00 scoring average, a single-season Auburn record, and earned a 3.71 GPA in the classroom. Eshleman paired a 70.82 scoring average with an impressive 3.68 GPA.
 
Auburn now has 30 All-American Scholars since head coach Nick Clinard’s arrival on The Plains in the fall of 2009.
