KIPP Atlanta Schools Workers Journey to Africa for First-Ever Global Literacy Mission

This summer time, members from KIPP Atlanta Schools traveled to Nairobi, Kenya, and Johannesburg, South Africa, for 2 weeks as a part of the varsity’s first-ever world literacy mission to fight illiteracy worldwide by means of schooling and cultural change. The delegation, made up of KIPP educators and athletic coaches, partnered with Texas A&M University and native organizations together with the Center for Transforming Mission Kenya and the Highway of Hope program. Together, they offered literacy assist and trainer coaching in Kibera, one in all Nairobi’s most underserved communities, in addition to youth mentorship and sports activities programming in Johannesburg.
