Cavaliers Flip in Spectacular Performances on Day 3 of USATF Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Five present and former Cavaliers turned in spectacular performances together with Gary Martin’s second faculty report of the weekend on the third day of competitors on the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. on Saturday (August 2).

In the lads’s 1500-meter remaining, Gary Martin ran a blistering 3:32.03 for a brand new private greatest and NCAA No.8 all-dates time. Martin broke his personal faculty report within the first spherical operating a private greatest of three:33.01 for which he went on to decrease by almost a second as the one collegiate athlete within the remaining. In the ladies’s 1500-meter remaining, Virginia alum Margot Appleton ran a robust race ending in 10^th place clocking 4:09.40.

The trio of present and former Cavaliers together with Derek Johnson, Nate Mountain and Yasin Sado completed within the high 10 within the males’s 3000-meter steeplechase remaining. Running with the entrance pack, Sado crossed the road in sixth place clocking 8:30.54. Mountain completed in eighth place together with his time of 8:30.87 whereas Johnson rounded out the highest 10 finishers with clocking 8:31.71.
