Two University of Southampton educators have been awarded National Teaching Fellowships in recognition of the excellent influence they’ve had on greater schooling.

Professor Bryony Whitmarsh
, from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, have each obtained the honour from Advance HE.
The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme (NTFS) celebrates and recognises people who’ve made an excellent influence on scholar outcomes and the instructing occupation in UK greater schooling.
Dr Paredes Fuentes stated: “I’m honoured to obtain this award which recognises the worth of investing in evidence-informed economics schooling.
“It displays a private and collective journey pushed by the assumption that economics can, and should, be extra inclusive and related to the world our college students will contribute to form sooner or later.
“I hope this recognition inspires others to challenge traditional boundaries and keep reimagining what economics education can be.”
Professor Whitmarsh added: “I’m honoured to have been awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in recognition of my work in internationalisation, which promotes social accountability and social justice.
“This work is deeply vital to me, because it has helped scale back boundaries to participation for underrepresented teams and fostered larger intercultural understanding.
“This recognition reflects work that has been co-produced with students and colleagues in Southampton and beyond, and I am deeply grateful for their knowledge, collaboration, and accountability which have been central to making my work impactful.”
