More work as a part of a scheme designed to remodel journey in Penzance has been accomplished.

Penzance Sustainable Transport Network (PSTN) mentioned entry for walkers and cyclists had been improved at Causewayhead and the doorway to the city had been made extra enticing.

A PSTN spokesperson mentioned two new puffin crossings had been put in at Bowling Green and Newlyn Green and a vehicle-activated 20mph signal had been launched to assist cut back speeds.

PSTN acquired £3.5m from the Town Deal programme, run by the federal government, and £3m from Cornwall Council.

Chair of the Penzance Town Deal board Martin Tucker mentioned: “Through the Penzance Town Deal and our Sustainable Travel Programme, we’re investing in a town centre that works better for everyone: residents, businesses and visitors.”

Previously there have been no pedestrian crossings on New Road that immediately linked to Newlyn Green.

At Causewayhead the present footway has been prolonged, new paving has been laid, the present zebra crossing on St Clare Street has been improved and a raised desk pedestrian crossing launched the place Causewayhead meets Clarence Street.

The current zebra crossing on Taroveor Road has been changed with an uncontrolled ‘construct out’ crossing level which is designed to cut back crossing distance for pedestrians.

The carriageway has been resurfaced and new landscaping and avenue furnishings, together with benches and bicycle stands, have been launched in pedestrian areas.

The PSTN spokesperson mentioned work on the Ponsandane Cycle Hub, the bus station and Branwells Gyratory was anticipated to begin in September.

Penzance Town Deal Board, in partnership with Cornwall Council, mentioned it efficiently bid for £21.5m to assist a spread of tasks that may contribute to the regeneration of the city and increase the native economic system.
