Five Tigers to converge on Olympic Club for 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship – Auburn Tigers

AUBURN, Ala. – Five present members of the Auburn males’s golf program will compete on the 125^th version of the United States Amateur Championship this week, Aug. 11-17, at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, California. 

Dually hosted by the lake and ocean programs of The Olympic Club, the U.S. Amateur hosts 312 of the nation’s high beginner golfers all vying for the Havemeyer Trophy. Monday, Aug. 11 and Tuesday, Aug. 12 will see the lads face off in 36 holes of stroke play earlier than the sphere is lower to 64 forward of the primary spherical of match play on Wednesday, Aug. 13. The championship concludes with a 36-hole finale on Sunday, Aug. 17. 

Competing this 12 months are juniors Josiah Gilbert, Jackson Koivun and Cayden Pope, sophomore Billy Davis and freshman Logan Reilly. Koivun is the one man to have beforehand made the match play lower, as he did in 2023, and superior to the quarterfinals.

Dan Stringfellow, a 2015 alum of this system, can be set to compete this week.

Koivun obtained exemption standing, having certified for the 2025 U.S. Open. Gilbert acquired in as a high 20 factors chief within the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). Gilbert, Pope, Reilly and Stringfellow all earned their means via respective qualifying websites.
