WATCHING THE SKIES: August 10-16 | Planets align within the morning sky

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Brad Klein evaluations upcoming astronomical highlights with Bethlehem’s ‘Backyard Astronomy Guy,’ Marty McGuire.

This week, you might have observed a second vibrant object becoming a member of the ‘morning star’ earlier than daybreak lately. It’s the large planet Jupiter, and this week it would make its closest method to Venus within the morning sky.

On the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 12 the 2 planets can be lower than a level aside within the evening sky, in what’s often known as a planetary conjunction.

“So close, in fact, that if you put your arm extended out, they’ll be the width of your pinky finger apart,” stated McGuire.
