Alleged unlawful Makati gaming hub: 7 nabbed

MANILA, Philippines — Five foreigners and two Filipinos have been arrested on August 15 for his or her alleged involvement within the operation of a suspected unlawful gaming hub in Makati City, based on the Philippine National Police (PNP) – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

The CIDG didn’t establish the seven suspects however stated they included three Taiwanese males, one Burmese man, one Chinese girl, and two Filipino ladies.

Aside from the suspects’ arrest, the CIDG stated its personnel in Metro Manila recognized 41 witnesses throughout a legislation enforcement operation on the hub alongside Arnaiz Avenue in Barangay San Lorenzo.

Authorities stated the 41 people have been staff of the alleged unlawful gaming hub and can function witnesses to the corporate’s purported unlawful operations.

“The witnesses revealed that the company, which is allegedly run and managed by the arrested suspects, hired them as customer service and information technology officers for the computer-related business and services. However, the employees are allegedly tasked to do internet gaming operations instead,” the CIDG stated in an announcement on Monday.

Confiscated from the suspects have been 59 models of laptop displays; 27 models of desktop computer systems; 10 laptop processor models; data communication expertise units;  25 items of pre-registered SIM playing cards; 227 assorted identification playing cards; and enterprise paperwork, amongst others.

The suspects are actually below police custody and can face complaints for violating Presidential Decree No. 1602 in relation to Executive Order No. 74, Republic Act No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), and Republic Act No. 8484 (Access Devices Act of 1998). /dl
