What does a 4-year-old get when he treats 911 like his private hotline? In Farmington Hills, Michigan, a birthday shock he will not quickly overlook.

In a post shared on Instagram on Aug. 18, the Farmington Hills Police Department recapped the 4-year-old’s 911 name to the police division that became a birthday shock.

The saga started when the 4-year-old — Micah — dialed 911 “to share how much he loves swimming and soccer,” in line with the put up.

The name became a “friendly chat” with the station’s dispatchers, who quickly after despatched off an officer — identified by WDIV as Officer Michael El-Hage — to make certain all was properly.

For El-Hage, responding to Micah’s call was personal and a reason to go above and beyond. He told WDIV that he also has a son.

“I just did it for the kids, honestly,” El-Hage said. ”I just see my son there, so being a dad I think every day I can understand that that’s what it’s about for me.”

For the department, it was a reminder of the role officers aim to serve all members in the community.

“While unintended 911 calls do occur, we all the time need children to really feel protected and cozy reaching out to us,” the post concluded. “Turning a small mistake right into a second of connection is what group policing is all about. Great job day shift.”
