Wausau East soccer embracing ‘fast and fun’ mantra

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – The Wausau East Lumberjacks are off and working, fairly actually. The Lumberjacks’ velocity popped final 12 months as they raced to a 6-3 report within the common season.

“Fast and fun…I think that’s something we did really well last year, where every game we played was exciting,” stated head coach Tyler Kramer. “Big plays, break off big runs, big passes, on defense, big stops and just a fun brand of football to watch, and I think that’s a good place for Wausau East to be in and I think that’s where we’re at right now.”

Coaches are jumping up and down and the kids are running all the way down when we get a big play going and that’s my favorite thing to see on film when I catch it on Saturdays.”

The Lumberjacks are coming into their second 12 months as members of the Great Northern Conference. East joined the convention after a blended bag run of seasons that featured them within the Valley, eight-man and even with no workforce. A full season within the GNC provides the workforce confidence going into this season.

“I think we’re feeling pretty good about it you know, we really have grown into this conference,” stated senior captain Kayden Meverden. “I feel like this first year, but I think we did pretty good last year for our first year and I feel like we have a lot more to come.”

The Lumberjacks completed second within the GNC final 12 months, trailing solely Medford. While they misplaced a few of their key playmakers, the senior leaders on this workforce actually like their depth.

“We had a lot of talent last year,” stated senior captain Logan Glovinski, “but this year we have a lot of young depth now so it’ll be good.”
