Many of our Photographer of the Week members inform us that from an early age they’d all the time been drawn to the water. Lisa Svensen, nevertheless, grew up afraid of it! Despite spending three weeks every summer season crusing together with her dad and mom, it wasn’t till a snorkeling journey close to Goat Island in New Zealand in 1995 that her fascination with the underwater world started—and her worry started to dissipate. That weekend led to a scuba certification, she started diving the waters round New Zealand, and upon returning to her residence nation of Denmark the next yr, she joined a neighborhood dive membership.

With a long-standing curiosity in images, Lisa started experimenting with underwater images within the early 2000s, which sparked an curiosity in marine biology. Her ardour absolutely developed in 2010 when she entered her first underwater images competitors—the Danish National Championship—armed with a brand new DSLR and completely no prior coaching. In 2013, she turned the Danish nationwide champion and competed in her first CMAS World Championship in 2015. In the years since, Lisa has gained the Danish National Championship seven occasions and represented Denmark in six CMAS World and European Championships.

Lisa makes a speciality of macro images, and says she is pushed by her fascination with marine biodiversity, particularly among the many marine world’s smaller denizens.
