Garden City Police provides grapple web gadget to patrol vehicles

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Starting in September 2025, the Garden City Police Department might be implementing the ‘Grappler Police Bumper,’ which is described as “an advanced pursuit intervention system designed to safely and effectively stop vehicles attempting to flee from law enforcement.”

In a press launch, the Grappler is outlined as “a vehicle-mounted device that deploys quickly during traffic encounters.”

It works by securing a fleeing car’s rear tire with a heavy-duty web, tethering it to the patrol automobile and bringing the pursuit to a cease.

“This innovative technology will significantly reduce the risks associated with high-speed chases, protecting both the public and officers,” the press launch states.

Select Garden City Police officers will endure specialised coaching to make sure the Grappler is deployed each successfully and responsibly.

The public can have a chance to see Garden City Police’s new grapple expertise firsthand, because the division is internet hosting a public show of the machine on Friday, August 22, 2025.

The show might be held at 100 Central Avenue in Garden City, GA, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
