Niagara Falls, ON, August 22, 2025 – With adequate rainfall within the City of Niagara Falls this previous week, Fire Chief Jo Zambito has lifted the hearth ban that was put in place on August twelfth.

“The rain we experienced here locally was sufficient and we are satisfied the fire risk has been reduced so we’ve lifted the ban” acknowledged Chief Zambito. “We only issue a fire ban in extraordinary circumstances which we were experiencing and rely on the cooperation of the public in following the rules to keep our community safe” added Chief Zambito.

During the hearth ban, the Niagara Falls Fire Department responded to 6 incidences the place fires have been present in contravention of the hearth ban. The Fire Department will likely be sending property homeowners invoices for the prices associated to these responses in accordance with the municipality’s schedule of charges by-law.

The Niagara Falls Fire Department thanks the general public for his or her cooperation through the hearth ban and with the ban being lifted wish to remind residents that open-air fires are regulated beneath municipal by-law. “While small, confined fires used for cooking purposes are permitted in Niagara Falls, if the fire department receives complaints those fires are creating nuisances for neighbouring properties, those fires must be extinguished” acknowledged Chief Zambito.
