Newark Liberty International Airport confronted extra floor stops Monday afternoon. The Federal Aviation Administration briefly issued a floor cease round 2 p.m. that was rapidly lifted. Another was issued round 4:30 p.m.
As of 9:55 p.m., Newark was reporting as much as 75-minute delays on arriving flights.
The floor stops come as New York City’s three main airports report dozens of delays for the Labor Day journey rush.
As of 4:50 p.m., Newark reported 153 flights had been delayed and two had been canceled. John F. Kennedy International Airport had 104 delays, and LaGuardia Airport had 98.
The FAA stated the newest floor stops at Newark have been resulting from staffing points.
Last week, one other floor cease was ordered on the airport, resulting in hours of delays heading into the vacation weekend. The FAA stated Thursday tools points had impacted radio frequencies for some air site visitors controllers.
Tough summer time for journey at Newark Airport
The airport has been suffering from issues for the reason that begin of the summer time. Hundreds of flights have needed to be canceled or delayed, partly resulting from runway building and partly resulting from tools points that triggered air site visitors controllers to briefly lose communication on a number of events.
