Ladies’s Golf Finishes in Fifth Place on the Folds of Honor Collegiate

East Lansing, Mich. – Paced by a ninth-place end from junior Ana Sofia Murcia, Michigan State’s ladies’s golf group completed in fifth place amongst 12 on the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club (par 72, 6,206 yards) in Grand Haven, Mich. on Wednesday afternoon.

The Spartans shot an 11-over par 299 on Wednesday and accomplished the three-day, 54-hole event at 29-over par 893 (303-291-299).

Texas A&M took the group title at 7-over par 871, with Baylor three photographs again in second place at 10-over par 874, Kentucky third (13-over par 877), North Carolina fourth (19-over par 883) and the Spartans rounded out the top-five groups in a highly-competitive discipline.

Murcia led the Spartans from begin to end and closed with a 3-over par 75 on Wednesday to tie for ninth place at 3-over par 219 (73-71-75). She completed the event ranked third within the discipline in common par-3 rating (2.83), tied for ninth in common par-5 rating (4.83) and was tied for seventh within the discipline with 38 pars over 54 holes.

She was one in all two MSU gamers to complete among the many top-20 total, as senior Paula Balanzategui posted the most effective group spherical of the day with a 1-under par 71 and tied for sixteenth place at 8-over par 224 (79-74-71). Balanzategui was one in all 5 gamers within the discipline to document an eagle throughout the three rounds, doing so within the second spherical on the par-5, 495-yard sixth gap, and was tied for seventh within the discipline with 9 birdies.

Senior Taylor Kehoe tied for twenty sixth place at 10-over par 226 (80-72-74), closing with a 2-over par 74 within the third spherical. Kehoe completed the week with 34 pars in 54 holes, tied for twenty second within the discipline.

Sophomore Catalina Monroy tied for thirty fifth place at 13-over par 226 (76-74-79) and freshman Sarisa “Memee” Pojanalai tied for forty eighth place at 20-over par 236 (75-77-84). Monroy completed tied for tenth within the discipline with eight birdies, whereas Pojanalai ranked tied for third in common par-3 rating (2.83).

This was the second annual Folds of Honor Collegiate for the ladies’s aspect. The event helps the Folds of Honor non-profit group that gives instructional scholarships to the spouses and kids of US army service members and first responders who’ve fallen or been disabled whereas serving our nation and communities. 

Michigan State is again on the course on the Canadian Collegiate Invitational in Aurora, Ontario, Canada for a two-day event from Monday, Sept. 22 to Tuesday, Sept. 23.
