Tigers Journey to Wisconsin For Carthage Invite

The Colorado College volleyball crew travels to Kenosha, Wis., this weekend for 3 matches on the Carthage Invitational. The Tigers will face Concordia University (Wis.) on Friday, Sept. 12, at 5 p.m. CT, then Thirteenth-ranked UW-Platteville (10 am CT) and Carthage (12 pm CT) on Saturday, Sept. 13.
 
Last Time Out

CC went an ideal 3-0 final weekend within the Pacific Northwest. The Tigers simply received each matches on the Lewis & Clark Invitational on Saturday in Portland, Ore., defeating Macalester and Lewis & Clark in three units. Brooke Brilliant and Meghan Gannon had been named to the all-tournament crew.

On Sunday, CC pulled out an exciting five-setter at George Fox in Newberg, Ore. After dropping the primary set, the Tigers stormed to a 2-1 lead by successful units two and three, 25-11 and 25-12. Geogre Fox then saved 4 match factors to win a loopy fourth set, 33-31, earlier than CC received the fifth and deciding set, 15-12.

SCAC Weekly Award

Junior center blocker Brooke Brilliant was named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week her stellar play final weekend.

 

Brilliant, from Marin County, Calif., tallied 36 kills over three matches because the Tigers posted an ideal 3-0 document within the Pacific Northwest, together with 18 within the five-set win over George Fox.

 

She posted a .536 hitting share through the weekend and presently ranks third within the nation in hitting share (.550) whereas main the crew in kills, kills per set and hitting share. Against George Fox, Brilliant collected a .739 hitting share and added three blocks.

Scouting The Opposition

Concordia Univ., enters the weekend with a 2-4 document after posting a 1-2 document on the UW-Whitewater Tournament final weekend. The Falcons defeated Wheaton, 3-1, on Wednesday.

 

UW-Platteville is 4-2 after falling to 23^rd-ranked Dubuque, 3-1, on Wednesday. The Pioneers had received 4 straight matches following a loss in opposition to No. 12 Millikin.

Carthage is 5-1 after defeating Lake Forest College, 3-0, and Aurora University, 3-1, on the Lake Forest Tournament final weekend.

CC opens SCAC play on Friday, Sept. 19, with a match in opposition to Texas Lutheran Univ., in Seguin, Texas, starting at 3 p.m. CT. The following day, the Tigers battle Concordia Univ. (Texas) in Austin at midday CT.
