Ballarat welcomes 86 new residents on Australian Citizenship Day

The City of Ballarat proudly welcomed 86 new residents at a particular ceremony held on Australian Citizenship Day, Wednesday 17 September.  

Residents took the pledge of dedication, marking the ultimate step of their journey to turning into Australian residents.  

The conferees come from 21 nations all over the world together with Britain, China, Ethiopia, Fiji, India, Iran, Ireland, Kenya, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Samoa, Sri Lanka, South Sudan, Vietnam and Zimbabwe.  

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves stated the event was each deeply private for every particular person and important for town as a complete.

“Australian Citizenship Day is an opportunity to celebrate what it means to be an Australian and to recognise the many ways new citizens enrich our community,” she stated.

“We are proud to officially welcome our newest citizens, who bring with them unique experiences, traditions, and talents that add to the diversity and vibrancy of Ballarat.” 

The Australian Government launched Australian Citizenship Day in 2001 to spotlight and rejoice the position citizenship performs in shaping the nation. Across the nation, ceremonies on at the present time acknowledge the contributions of all residents, new and previous, to our native communities.
