James Balog: Photographs from the Anthropocene presents a collection of pictures that describes the traditional cyclical patterns of the earth’s life kinds and the affect of human exercise.

For 4 a long time, James Balog has studied historical cultural assumptions concerning the relationship between human nature and the remainder of nature.

Through progressive imagery, his initiatives interpret important elements of what has modified, what’s survived, and what modifications are projected for the longer term. His pictures reveal nature’s dazzling magnificence and its capability for destruction.

For occasion, the clearing of forests for habitation and commerce endangers animal and plant species and might change climate patterns which may result in extended droughts, which may, in flip,  set off hotter and extra frequent fires within the remaining forests. Balog’s ardour to know these patterns drives him. His expertise is to {photograph} and movie them in ways in which not solely seduce viewers with nature’s wealthy varieties and splendor however evoke questions on what is occurring and why.

The exhibition is split into 5 sections—Survivors, Techno Sapiens, Altering Earth, On Fire, and Vanishing Ice, which replicate his initiatives over 4 a long time.

This exhibition has been co-organized by the Earth Vision Institute and the Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography, Minneapolis/Paris/Lausanne, in affiliation with the Museum of Photographic Arts at The San Diego Museum of Art.
