Former Lafayette Big Lots retailer might quickly develop into ‘Fun City’

LAFAYETTE, IN — The the emptiness within the Lafayette Station Shopping Center created by the closure of Big Lots in Lafayette might quickly be stuffed by a brand new trampoline park.

The purchasing heart on the north facet of Teal Road between South twenty sixth and South twenty second streets is zoned NB for neighborhood enterprise, property proprietor Lafayette Station stated within the petition offered to the Tippecanoe County Area Plan Commission on Wednesday evening.

The request for the property to be rezoned to GB for common enterprise would permit a broader vary of use, the petition stated, resembling a trampoline park.

Thomas Bedsole, an legal professional with Indianapolis-based Frost, Brown, Todd Attorneys representing the petitioner, stated the proposed tenant for the area is Fun City, an indoor playground and journey park with areas scattered across the Midwest, the closest in Fort Wayne.

“As this area continues to develop and redevelop, we believe that the GB provides more flexibility,” Bedsole stated. “Not a lot, but it just does provide for a few additional uses.”

According to Fun City’s website, actions the indoor journey park gives embody trampolines, foam pits, ball pits, impediment programs, slides and jungle gym-style gear.

Tippecanoe APC voting members unanimously authorised the rezone, pushing the request ahead to Lafayette City Council’s Oct. 6 assembly for a closing vote.
