A Message from the Commissioner on the National Summit and subsequent steps

Now that the National Summit on the Future of Sport has come to an finish, I wish to prolong my heartfelt gratitude to all those that participated.

During the occasion, the Commission introduced collectively victims and survivors of maltreatment in sport, athletes, coaches, dad and mom, directors, lecturers, advocates and consultants from throughout Canada to have interaction in dialog on how one can create a safer, extra inclusive, and extra accountable sport system in Canada.

Participants offered priceless commentary on the preliminary suggestions in our Preliminary Report, together with the proposal for a Centralized Sport Entity and a nationwide safe-sport technique centered on prevention, schooling, accountability, and system-wide reform.

The responses we heard from individuals not solely underscored the collective dedication to advance a safer, extra inclusive, equitable, and accountable sport system, but in addition strengthened the Commission’s path ahead. This suggestions will inform the Commission’s Final Report, to be printed in March 2026.

For those that didn’t attend the National Summit or for National Summit individuals who want to present further suggestions, there may be a web-based suggestions type out there on the Commission’s web site for this goal. The type will stay open till September 29, 2025.
