Captain Fun Lunchtime Listening Hour

Bring your lunch & hearken to a playlist curated by a Caffe Lena Community member. For the September version of the Captain Fun Lunchtime Listening Hour, our playlist curator can be none apart from beloved Caffè Lena member, Franklyn Whitney! Franklyn’s theme is “Songs From Yellowed Posters” – a collection of music from performers featured on the Caffè Lena poster collage (Downstairs/ Ground Floor Entrance.) Franklyn says, “Oh my…what a time!” The D.J. spinning these information would be the Rochmon himself – Chuck “Rochmon” Vosganian. All are welcome to assemble at Lena’s from Noon to 1 PM on the final Friday of every month to get pleasure from musical reminiscences and new discoveries. The playlist is chosen by a special group member every month from the Captain Fun Listening Library of vinyl information in Lena’s foyer. Bring a brown bag lunch. Coffee and tea are supplied.

The Captain Fun Listening Library occupying the north wall within the Caffè Lena foyer is comprised of 1,516 vinyl albums and several other hundred CDs chosen from Al “Captain Fun” McKenney’s expertly curated assortment. This treasure trove of folks, blues and jazz was left us in 2015 and we share it by way of our month-to-month listening hour, as Al wished.
