Poetry in journey – Tecla

The Northwest Passage now lies behind us, its huge silence nonetheless echoing in my ideas. Such an accomplishment, such a voyage. Through the logbooks, the shared phrases, and the sounds carried from the ship, I felt as if I travelled alongside. Much like a lot of you at residence I think about. Each replace grew to become a small window, every echo of ice and wind a reminder of how the ocean invitations us to be current, even from afar.

Now, with a lot of the voyage crew again on shore, the stillness feels totally different – quieter – whereas Tecla sails on, fjord after fjord, with a brand new group of hikers tracing their approach into Greenland’s wilderness.

I discover myself lacking the poetry {that a} voyage like this awakens. The rainbow presence of the ocean, the threads of color that bind time and reminiscence collectively – they linger in me. They whisper that absence is rarely full, that heat might be sought on the pores and skin even when distance lies between. “Tu es ma belle poésie” I learn on a poster the opposite day, and possibly that’s simply what it’s. 

That is what journey provides us most: the reminder that each silence might be stuffed with that means, that each horizon holds greater than absence, and that the ocean teaches us to hold each distance and closeness in the identical breath.

As Tecla sails on, I carry these phrases with me, just like the tides that return unfailingly. Just 40 extra days earlier than she arrives again within the Netherlands and little over 50 days and we sail for hotter shores and new adventures.
