Joint assertion on unity and respect

As York’s two faculties and two universities, we stand collectively in selling unity, respect, and security for all who reside, work, and research in our metropolis.

We are collectively dedicated to fostering inclusive environments the place variety is widely known and each particular person is valued equally—no matter background, perception, or id. We recognise the pleasure that many really feel of their metropolis and nation, and we honour that pleasure by our dedication to openness and mutual respect. However, we’re additionally deeply involved by unacceptable incidents of harassment, racist incidents and intimidation in current weeks. This behaviour has no place in our communities, our campuses, or our metropolis.  

Harassment, hate and discrimination won’t be tolerated. Together, we are going to proceed to work with our companions throughout York to make sure that each scholar, workers member, and resident feels protected, revered, and in a position to thrive.  

Our shared values unite us—and we reaffirm our dedication to equality, dignity, and compassion for all.
