Families within the Wolfville space will profit from extra entry to baby care with plans underway to construct a brand new 104-space early studying and child-care centre on the Acadia University campus.

The centre, a partnership between the Province and Acadia, will likely be constructed on college property. It will provide areas and applications for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

“This partnership between Acadia University and the Province means that more families will have access to child care,” stated Brendan Maguire, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. “Our government is collaborating with partners like Acadia so that finding child care is not a barrier for Nova Scotian families to work.”

The centre is a part of the Province’s broader efforts to develop entry to baby care, supported by the Canada–Nova Scotia Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.

Quotes:

“Today’s announcement is great news for families in Wolfville. Adding to the over 7,000 child-care spots already announced in the province, these new spaces will further help reduce costs for parents. These are generational investments in families, our economy and the future of our children.”
Kody Blois, Member of Parliament for Kings-Hants, on behalf of Anna Gainey, Canada’s Secretary of State for Children and Youth

“Adding this facility to our campus, being able to respond to the needs of our families and students and community, is a significant milestone for Acadia and Wolfville. And, of course, the biggest beneficiaries of the new child-care centre are going to be the children who get to attend. We’re most excited for them!”
Jeff Hennessy, President, Acadia University
